Giant Brewing APA

I had a glass of this today, which is my local brewery, brewed in Havelock North. Interestingy, it was just following a Brave Tigermilk IPA, which gave a nice contrast to compare with. The biggest difference between the two was the malt character that shone through with the Giant APA. A subtle but significant sweetness and fullness to this beer that wasn't quite there with the Tigermilk. The hops character wasn't quite as strong, but I guess that's to be expected comparing an APA with an IPA. Don't get me wrong, this APA certainly has a good hops character, and a nice aroma.

Overall, a good APA, but I was most impressed with the fantastic balance of a relatively strong malt flavour that manages not to overpower a good hoppy brew.
