Epic Grain Dead West Coast IPA

It took me a while to realise what exactly a West Coast IPA is; it's a huge hoppy clear IPA kind of like a double/imperial IPA, but without any real malt character - it goes against the brewing dogma that once was of maintaining balance (i.e. the more hops you use, the bigger the malt should be - so the sweet balances the bitter... but when you go easy on the bitter and massive on the hops, this kind of goes out the window... But I still love a big bitter and hoppy imperial IPA with a decent thick malty caramel chewiness over a West Coast IPA).

This guy delivers in true West Coast IPA style, with more than expected bitterness hiding behind a delicious tropical fruity US hoppiness. The malt flavours are well hidden and subtle, giving that kind of unbalanced but somehow good West Coast IPA feel.
