Mac's Gold

I somehow managed to spend over ten years in New Zealand without trying Mac's Gold, but finally had a pint today in a pub. Surprisingly good, to be fair. I think the classic NZ lager is making a bit of a comeback, with more and more craft breweries putting out beers just labelled "lager" or something similar. (This isn't one of those beers; it's been around for donkeys' years). But I guess this one of the classic NZ pub beers that's withstood the test of time, and for one of those beers it's really pretty good. There is a notable hop flavour, a slight bitterness, and a nice but subtle malty sweetness coming through. Will definitely make its way onto my list of things to have every once in a while.
