Liberty Divine Wind Lager
Well this is a beer that's very different to any other Liberty beer I've had. I think every other Liberty beer I've had has been huge in at least one aspect of flavour, more often than not huge American hops flavours.
This beer is deliciously subtle in all its components. A Japanese style dry lager, which I guess means they've used some rice in the malt bill (rice adds a bit of alcohol with little to no flavour or colour so when used well can contribute to a very clean, clear and crisp beer, but runs the risk of a sickly pale flavourless beer), they've managed to hop it perfectly with a subtle bitterness and noble hop character that gave it that "old world" lager feel almost reminiscent of a good European lager, but slightly lighter in the body.
Very drinkable for what it is, and a nice variation to have a beer out of the North Island that isn't ridiculously hopped.
ABV: 5.0%
Brewery: Liberty
Region: Helensville (Auckland)
Style: Dry Lager / Pale Lager
Wife check: "Mmm" (that's literally all she said. I'm not sure if it was a yum Mmmm or an I'm thinking mmm)
