Urbanaut Brut Lager

I had to google "Brut Lager", which as far as I can tell is not actually a thing. This beer comes in a tiny wee 250mL can, which is almost cute, but doesn't really make any sense... but I'll come back to that in a bit.

A little confused by the Brut Lager title, and a vague description on the tiny can with a 5.5% ABV, I was quite happy with how it looked.

Pouring a nice clean golden colour with a fairly standard good beer smell about it, this beer turned out to be a fairly nice and drinkable lager. Not overly hoppy, no strong malt or yeast character, but a nice rounded flavour, nicer than your average NZ lager, and definitely a hint of craft beer. Pretty enjoyable really.

So back to the small can. This is a beer with a fairly subdued flavour profile and not too high in alcohol.... The kind of beer that could easily be drunk in a 1 Litre stein... So why the hell did they put it in such a small can!!? Definitely not enough of it in there. I would think a pygmy of a can like that is actually never a good idea for beer, but if it was going to be used I would think an overly strong (maybe dark?) beer that should be sipped might be a good option... Or maybe a marketing ploy to make a fruity beer or shandy more "cute".

But yeah enough about small cans. I did enjoy the beer.
