Tuatara Pilsner
Interestingly, this is a beer I've had probably several hundred bottles/pints of over the years, but today was the first time I've sat down to really think about it and pay attention. And today is probably the most I've ever really appreciated how nice a beer this is. I've had this when it was Mot-Eureka Pilsner, and when it was just "Bohemian Pilsner" before that, and it's always been a good staple of NZ beer. Definitely better out of a glass to get the full experience. Perfect amount of "real bitter" but not too bitter, managing to taste like a Czech Pilsner but without any Czech (or even European) hops. And a sublte but definite Kiwi hop note coming through to give it a bit of uniquity (yep I know that's not a word). The malt is fairly underplayed, but sufficient to support the strong hops. So overall fairly well balanced, real nice whiff, real nice taste, looks good and if you just stop thinking and drink the thing, it's a bloody nice drop.
