Tuatara Hefeweizen

I swing in and out of liking Bavarian style wheat beers. While they stick to the German purity law (with the legal addition of wheat), they definitely taste pretty different to your average beer. The strong overpowering taste is from the yeast, clasically described as giving banana and clove flavour (I'm not a fan of these kind of descriptions, but for hefeweizen it's fairly spot on).

From what I recall Tuatara started out making European (and primarily Bavarian?) style beers, and this one is fairly spot on for a classical Bavarian Hefeweizen. Pours slightly cloudy with a good thick head, smells strongly of yeasty bananas, and is very drinkable but with a big fruity ester flavour profile. If I'm in the right mood I love it.
