Scott's Golden Ale

Out to lunch in a cafe that only has Scott's Brewery beers, the barista/bartender commended my choice of the Golden Ale with "Good drop that one; I find most beers these days undrinkable with their overload of hops and malts.". I wasn't quite sure how to take that, I was about 30% "yep, I get what you mean" and about 70% "what!? but I love big hoppy and malty beers!".

But I think the guy was spot on, this is a really nice ale (and quite ale-y just after their Vienna Lager) that has a small bit of hoppiness and a small bit of maltiness, but overall delivers a really nice drinkable (but perhaps not that memorable) beer. A nice yum ale that would probably be a perfect camping beer to drink in the sun on a folding chair by a river.
