Hallertau #3 Red Ale
Another good drop from Hallertau. Their head brewer was once Joe Wood, the man behind Liberty (there's a woman behind the man also heavily involved in the brewery from what I recall). I'm not sure if he is still involved in Hallertau or how much influence he had on their cornerstone beers. Cool story.
I do like a good Red Ale. Strong malt flavour, and this one packs a good bit of hoppy bitterness too, without much hop aroma; more of a classic Celtic Ale than the modern Red IPAs. A good amount of flavour to sit and think about as it was going down, but then the bloody thing was gone before I'd finished really contemplating. I really did enjoy it, and wish I had a much, much larger bottle to sit and ponder.
